What About Her?
Marie never saw her parents again after they took her away at age seven. They discovered something unique about her. She was able to survive any temperature. So how did her parents discover such a thing? Well, the little girl was helping her mother make cookies one evening. The little girl pulled that cake pan right out with no oven mitt or anything. This shocked the mother. But Marie was confused as to why her mother was making such a big deal about it. Her mom contacted her father, and they sent her to a doctor. Only thing was.. this Doctor had secret connections to an underground facility to hold these special people captive and run tests and find out ways to better the human society, enhance the potential in US Soldiers. This underground location is still unknown to this day. They took little Marie away. They ran tests, stuck her in chambers and setting it in such great temperatures.. and she still remained unharmed. They even went further into researching this girl and tested her in cooler temperatures. She did not even get frost bite. As the years past, they discovered she can even guess the exact temperature in a room or even a person's temperature. As she got older and hit puberty, so did her abilities. Discovering that she can form into pure mercury, a very dense metal liquid.

They realized how useful her gifts could be for rescue teams to take on the cold climates and even the heat of volcanoes. So they continued to take blood tests, to try and compile a serum.. But they always seem to come up with a temporary serum that wore off within an hour or so. Also some would be fatal, because of the mercury. So they would constantly keep working at it. They kept her captive for eleven years.

That is until a humble young professor visited the facility believing it to be a normal facility for gifted children.. Mohinder Suresh was not aware of their captivity, their illegal testing, and poor treatment.

He then met Marie. He discovered she was being held captive when she accidently slipped that she never been outside for years. It was then Mohinder took action pulled various stings and was able to get the poor girl out of that place. Now Marie is eighteen. Throughout her years spent in that facility, they did teach her things, they allowed her to read books, and even researched a little bit on the internet. So she was not completely lost from the world. But still the teen still has a whole world to see and new people to meet.

She currently enrolled in NYU, where Mohinder Suresh is a professor. He still keeps an eye on her and feels partially responsible for her and is determined to keep on helping her. She is rooming with an Adam Gray who too has special gift and she never felt more happier. She is even considering a major in Nursing or some other type of medical career.
